The David S. Friendly Award is sponsored by the Costenbader Society to posthumously honor one of its most beloved and respected members, David S. Friendly, MD. The award is presented annually at the Costenbader Society meetings to “A solid member of society that David would have been proud of ” who meets the following qualifications:

• Contributions to children
• Contributions to society
• Contributions to science
• Contributions to ophthalmology

Each recipient presents the David S. Friendly Lecture at the annual meeting following the year of the award presentation.
